SVLE – La Esmeralda Airport

La Esmeralda is a town and capital of the Alto Orinoco municipality in Amazonas state, Venezuela, as of 2015 it had a population of 14,727. The village contains a Venezuelan army base and an airport. It is located at coordinates N3 10 20 20.3 W 65 32 37.5. The village is located in the Amazon on the banks of the Orinoco River.
To the north of the village is the El Duida mountain or plateau, part of the Sierra Parima, with a maximum altitude of about 2700 meters above sea level. It is part of the Duida-Marahuaca National Park. It is composed of sandstone rock. It is part of the Roraima formation of the Guiana Shield.
Access to this locality is complex due to its geographic location, so its main form of transportation is by air and river through the waters of the Orinoco River.
