El Libertador Air Base (ICAO: SVBL) is a military airport and base for the Venezuelan Air Force. It is located in Maracay, a city in central Venezuela and the capital of the state of Aragua.
The main mission and function of the air base is to guarantee to the units housed there the necessary logistical support for the fulfillment of their training and operations. In the case of El Libertador Air Base, the need and efficiency of this support acquires peremptory characteristics, since its privileged strategic position, located as it is in the center of the country, allows the Combat or Transport Units that have their headquarters there, to quickly go anywhere in the national territory, to fulfill the mission entrusted to them. Its functions are also: the control of the Air Units dependent on the Base Command, and to guarantee the security of the flying material and the personnel of the Base.
